We are seeking a self-motivated, dynamic individual to test, evaluate, and analyze EO/IR seekers and sensors.

 

As an Electro-Optic Engineer / Analyst, you will:

 

  • Test, evaluate, and analyze EO/IR seekers and sensors at the component, subsystem, and system levels
  • Perform test planning, day-to-day operation, data analysis, and the preparation of reports; Review requirements, designs, and specifications
  • Support flight tests and related field operations
  • Develop and refine tools, techniques, models, simulations, algorithms, and software for the testing and evaluation of electro-optic systems
  • Develop and maintain special test equipment for EO/IR seeker and sensor systems
  • Continuously upgrade existing special test equipment and enhance the reliability and longevity of facility test assets
  • Work with project and program management and with peers across the organization to ensure that test results provide critical contributions to the most critical challenges the nation faces in air and missile defense.

 

You will meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you have:

 

  • A BS degree in engineering, optics, physics, mathematics or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated interest in testing and evaluation or test system development for electro-optic systems.
  • Strong technical capabilities and demonstrated competencies for understanding and solving complex technical problems.
  • Desire and ability to partner with Sponsors and Program Management to work towards achieving the shared strategic vision.
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time as needed.
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To ensure the safety and well-being of the community, APL has established a policy requiring that all staff be vaccinated against COVID-19. All staff members must provide proof of full vaccination or have an approved medical or religious accommodation by their start date.

 

You’ll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you have:

  • An MS degree or PhD in engineering, optics, physics, mathematics or related discipline.
  • Experience in testing and evaluation or test system development.
  • Experience in electro-optic or IR system design, development or analysis, including IR sensors and seeker systems.
  • Experience in system engineering and project management.
  • Experience with integrated software/hardware systems.
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB.
  • Current Secret, Top Secret, or TS/SCI clearance.
