We are seeking a Technician to work with a team of Engineers and Scientists to design, fabricate, and test electronic and photonic systems for a wide variety of applications. Specifics include; Hands-on system-level prototype development, optical breadboarding, soldering, fiber splicing/management, laboratory and field measurements, and system-level equipment testing.

 

As an Electronics and Photonics Technician...

  • Your primary responsibility will be assisting with the development, building, and testing of electronic, optical, and photonic systems.
  • You will be expected to give feedback on designs based on knowledge of manufacturing techniques and experience.
  • Assist in recording optical and electronic measurements that will help to determine the functionality of optical and photonic systems.

You meet our minimum requirements for the job if you…

  • Hold a high school diploma or GED.
  • Have at least 1 year of experience as an Engineering Technician, Electrical Assembler, or Mechanical Assembler.
  • Have demonstrated the ability to work in teams.
  • Possess strong hands-on assembly skills.
  • High attention to detail and takes pride in their work.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Are able to obtain a secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To ensure the safety and well-being of the community, APL has established a policy requiring that all staff be vaccinated against COVID-19. All staff members must provide proof of full vaccination or have an approved medical or religious accommodation by their start date.

 

You will go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you…

  • Hold an A.A. in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Have at least 3 years of experience as a Technician specializing in electronics or photonics.
  • Have strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking skills.
  • Are experienced with fiber splicing, soldering, electrical wiring, and mechanical fabrication.
  • Hold a current Secret clearance.
