As a Research Scientist/Engineer, you will join a team of computational and experimental staff members who are passionate about developing innovative solutions that can impact the future development and application of electromagnetic devices. Our team is committed to scientific excellence and continuous improvement in an agile environment.

 

We are seeking a creative scientist/engineer to help us fulfill the technical needs of existing projects and help in growing new ones. The scope of the projects will range from fundamental discovery through advanced prototype demonstration.  As a member of our team, you'll contribute to research that ties numerical models to real-world transitioned technologies. Our team of specialists work closely with systems engineers and experimentalists to gain deeper insights into sensors, devices, and phenomena.

 

As a Engineered Electromagnetic Surface Modeling & Characterization Physicist, you will:

 

  • Leverage commercial computational tools to build simulations and develop numerical solutions for problems pertaining to the interaction of electromagnetic fields with novel surfaces, structures and materials from radio-wave through optical frequencies.

 

  • Extend established design principles and solutions into new application domains beyond the state of the art.

 

  • Develop independent research and development concepts and present/publish results in an effective and timely fashion.

 

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Hold a Master’s Degree in Physics or Engineering.

 

  • Have working experience in using commercial tools such as CST and COMSOL in the numerical simulation of engineered electromagnetic surfaces and materials combined with expertise in lab characterization of designed structures.

  • Have a working knowledge of the procedures and protocols for the deposition and fabrication of engineered electromagnetic surfaces.

​​​​​​​

  • Write scientific programs in MATLAB or PYTHON.

​​​​​​​

  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. All staff members must provide proof of full vaccination or have an approved medical or religious accommodation by their start date.


You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have significant experience in modeling multi-physics problems, for example using COMSOL.

  • Write scientific programs in at least one high-level language (such as C, C++, or JAVA).

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

  • Write programs for use in parallelized computing environments using frameworks such as Open MPI or CUDA.
