We are seeking a Flight Guidance Software Engineer to help us develop software for mission planning, weapon control, and flight guidance systems based on trajectory generation and optimal control techniques to maximize system capabilities; interface software with representative simulation environments so that capability analysis can be performed; and port flight software to a flight computer to assess performance running on representative hardware.

As a Flight Guidance Software Engineer, your primary responsibilities will be...

  • Developing software for mission planning, weapon control, and guidance systems
  • Interfacing with software in loop simulation (SWIL)
  • Interfacing with representative flight computer (HWIL)
  • Vehicle testing (software) and evaluation activities
  • Documenting and presenting analysis findings as appropriate
  • Interacting with sponsors and representatives of other organizations

You meet the minimum qualifications for the job if you… 

  • Hold a B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or other related technical discipline, with relevant experience
  • Have strong computer and programming skills, proficient with C++, MATLAB, and other relevant programing languages.
  • Are able to interact effectively with individuals of different experience levels and backgrounds including external industry and military personnel
  • Have experience using modeling and simulation tools
  • Have experience porting algorithms to hardware (representative flight computer)
  • Have knowledge of flight dynamics, navigation, guidance, and control
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Have the initiative, interest, interest in skill development and the flexibility to accept assignments of varied scope and skill
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You’ll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you… 

  • Hold a M.S. or PhD. in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science,  Applied Mathematics or other related technical discipline with relevant experience in modeling and simulation of flight systems
  • Have knowledge of guidance system hardware for flight systems
  • Have experience developing 3-DoF / 6-DoF flight simulations
  • Have experience with optimal control software such as GPOPS, POST, OTIS, or similar
  • Have experience with nonlinear program solvers such as SNOPT, IPOPT, KNITRO, or similar
  • Have strong knowledge of optimal control theory and/or model predictive control
  • Have experience in parallel programing or GPU programing
  • Are proficient with Simulink
  • Are willing and able to travel 10 to 20 days a year
  • Hold an active Secret level security clearance.  If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
