We are seeking a Learning Consultant to help us design, develop, and deliver effective learning and development initiatives aligned to the mission and strategy of APL.. As a core member of APL’s centralized training organization, you will establish relationships throughout the APL community and foster and enhance the credibility and value of the learning and development function.

 

As a Talent Development Learning Consultant...

  • Your primary responsibility will be to develop and facilitate leadership development and soft skills solutions (in person, and virtually) that align with the strategy of the organization and the needs of our customer population.
  • You will also partner with the Talent Development team and our corporate customers to continue the evolution (or revolution!) of our leadership and soft skills curricula, and other curricula in our portfolio
  • You will develop and design training solutions, leveraging solid instructional design processes and using appropriate tools for instructor-led and web-based training delivery
  • You will stay well-informed of training theory, models, and tools to advance the solutions provided by the Talent Development team
  • You will collaborate with supervisors, HR strategic partners, and the Talent Development team to understand needs, assess our solutions, and to engage in other Laboratory initiatives.
  • You will provide support to APL’s tuition assistance program, to support APL staff in the pursuit of academic programs to expand the breadth of their development
  • You will join an effective and energetic team, and collaborate in the administration of contracts, learning management system, websites, and archives to support the Talent Development function.

 

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Adult Learning, Leadership Development, Organization Development, Psychology, Human Systems, Instructional Systems Design (or related degree) or equivalent years of professional experience
  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in needs assessment, curriculum development, facilitation, and program evaluation methodologies, and 1 year of experience in designing leadership development and business skills solutions in an organizational setting, delivered in person, virtually, and in web-based formats
  • Are able to successfully work independently or across teams on multiple projects with overlapping time frames and shifting priorities
  • Can demonstrate results to innovate in the area of training and development
  • Are articulate, verbally and in written form, and have effective training/platform skills, good organization, administrative, and computer skills
  • Can think proactively, identify problems and solutions, and exhibit a high level of self-initiative
  • Due to the nature of the work, eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  •  Possess a Master’s degree

  • Have experience working with engineers and scientists in a technical environment

  • Demonstrate the ability to follow the ADDIE cycle (or equivalent) and to apply current human performance theory

  • Have experience managing training courses, records, and reporting in a learning management system

  • Have evolved internal consulting skills
