We are seeking a Prototypes Manufacturing Engineer to help us ensure the success of large and complex manufacturing projects, through technical expertise in manufacturing. The PME will work with staff at all levels to implement design for manufacturing principles, improve efficiency and quality, and drive projects to completion.

 

As a Prototypes Manufacturing Engineer your primary responsibility will be working with multidisciplinary teams to solve some of the nations critical challenges, providing design for manufacturing expertise to improve quality and performance, compress schedules, and reduce cost of complex mechanical hardware.

 

In this role, you will...

 

  • Represent mechanical fabrication as a subject matter expert in space, land, sea, and air based projects.

 

  • Review designs and drawings for manufacturability.

  • Engage in R&D efforts to develop novel fabrication methods and practices.

​​​​​​​

  • Work with customers, planners, and working leadership to develop estimates and schedules.

​​​​​​​

  • Maintain awareness of manufacturing advancements.

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

  • Assist in the development of educational materials on design for manufacturing and then deploy them.
     

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

 

  • Have a B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or any type of Manufacturing Engineering.

 

  • Have 3+ years of professional experience in mechanical design and/or fabrication that utilized at least 4 of the following fabrication disciplines: 3 & 5 axis machining, turning, EDM, sheet metal, welding, additive, composites, and molds.

  • Have designed several prototypes and/or configured hardware.

​​​​​​​

  • Have a significant number of hours clocked in solids modeling software.

​​​​​​​

  • Have a basic understanding of GD&T.

​​​​​​​

  • Have mechanical stress analysis experience with an understanding of basic failure modes.

​​​​​​​

  • Are able to obtain a Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

​​​​​​​

  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

 

  • Have 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design and/or fabrication that utilized at least 6 of the following fabrication disciplines: 3 & 5 axis machining, turning, EDM, sheet metal, welding, additive, composites, and molds.

​​​​​​​

  • Have expertise in GD&T and are able to match the accurate inspection methods associated.

​​​​​​​

  • Have experience working in PLM software tools.

​​​​​​​

  • Have engaged in drawing and design review of several unique parts not designed by you.

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
