We are seeking a software engineer who has experience with the full life-cycle of software development to create and improve engineering analysis products. Our team seeks to improve electromagnetic systems with maritime applications through the research, development, implementation, and evaluation of software applications and tools. As an Engineering Analysis Software Engineer...

  • Your primary responsibility will be to design, architect, document, and test software solutions. 
  • You will develop tools to process, analyze, visualize, and provide key insights from maritime sensor systems data. 
  • You will work closely with engineers and scientists to develop tools that enable them to perform critical analysis. 
  • You will occasionally travel to support test events. 

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you... 

  • Possess a BS in computer science, computer engineering, or other related field.
  • Have relevant Java, C++, C or Python software development experience. 
  • Have experience with the full life-cycle of software development and systems integration including: software design & architecture, coding standards, configuration management systems (Git or SVN), software testing, and quality assurance. 
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Are a self-starter who works well as part of a team. 
  • Are willing and able to work in closed areas.
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Top Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To ensure the safety and well-being of the community, APL has established a policy requiring that all staff be vaccinated against COVID-19. All staff members must provide proof of full vaccination or have an approved medical or religious accommodation by their start date.

 

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Possess a MS in computer science, computer engineering, or related field
  • Have 3+ years’ of Java, C/C++, or Python software development experience. 
  • Have experience developing real-time processing software and are familiar with MATLAB. 
  • Have knowledge of software process management, agile software development lifecycles (e.g. Scrum, Kanban) and the tools and principals associated with DevOps or DevSecOps software methodologies. 
  • Have used and configured build automation and continuous integration systems (e.g. Gitlab, Jenkins). 
  • Are comfortable developing software within the Linux operating system environment
  • Are familiar with SQL Databases and Object Relational Mapping (ORM) Frameworks 
  • Have leadership experience on software development or engineering project. 
  • Possess domain knowledge in the processes, systems, platforms, and sensors used by the U.S. military and intelligence community.
  • Have an active Top Secret or TS/SCI security clearance
