We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and experienced software tester to help us with the software development of physics‐based models, simulations, and 3D visualization across a variety of multi‐disciplinary projects.


As a Software Test Engineer...

  • Your primary responsibility will be installing, testing (manual and automated), troubleshooting, coding, automating builds, and producing documentation for multiple 3D software applications. 
  • You will work and interact with project engineers and software developers to understand the installation, intent, and function of different software applications.
  • You will design/create, setup, and run automated and manual tests.
  • You will document test scenarios, expected results and test cases.
  • You will log and report software defects.
  • You will develop and/or utilize tools to support build automation, continuous integration, application interfaces, and configuration management. - Troubleshoot and fix software problems (e.g., project settings, missing data files, etc.)
  • You will lead a team of testers in reviewing software prior to delivery to the sponsor, ensuring quality and proper functionality of the product


You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Hold a BS Degree or equivalent in related technical field with relevant experience in software testing using modern programming languages.
  • Have strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Must work effectively in a team environment and be able to multitask and support multiple development projects concurrently.
  • Have strong initiative, creativity, breadth of experience, and a desire to learn with a passion for modern gaming (both computer and consoles).
  • Are willing to travel occasionally, approximately 3 trips per year of approximately a week duration each.
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To ensure the safety and well-being of the community, APL has established a policy requiring that all staff be vaccinated against COVID-19.   • Are able to obtain a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.  

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have a Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Have 10+ years of software testing experience
  • Have experience with Unity, MatLab, Java, C++ and agile software development
