The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is a national leader in scientific research and development. We are seeking an Tool Crib Technician to join our team, in the Advanced Mechanical Fabrication Group. You will work in a state of the art manufacturing and research facility and you will be supporting R&D programs, including National Security, Space & Undersea hardware programs. 

 

As an Tool Crib Technician,your primary role will be to...

 

  • Manage the auto crib system, track and inventory calibrated tooling, and order specialty tooling for complex hardware fabrication.

 

  • Use e-buy system to order non-standard tooling from vendors.

  • Install helicoils, and various hardware into finished components.

 

  • Work on specialty projects directly with engineers and designers.

​​​​​​​

  • Be able to learn how to use laser markers and various shop machines.

​​​​​​​

  • Achieve and maintain proficiency with all applicable quality processes associated with assigned work.

​​​​​​​

  • Work in a collaborative environment sharing skills and knowledge with peers.

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

  • Monitor and record duration and completion of work performed in Work Management system in accordance with business and Quality procedures.
     

You'll meet our minimum qualifications for the job, if you...

 

  • Have a High school degree or equivalent.

 

  • Have 3+ years of experience working with tooling and fabrication.

​​​​​​​

  • Have some experience with hardware installation.

​​​​​​​

  • Are proficient computer skills, e.g., Microsoft Office and Web-based applications.

​​​​​​​

  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
