Are you a creative and versatile video producer and animator who loves using your skills to craft compelling videos?

Do you enjoy communicating with technical researchers and leading them through the video development process to ensure their message makes an impact?

If so, we are looking for someone like you to join our team at Johns Hopkins APL.

As a Senior Video Producer/Editor, your primary job responsibility will be to collaborate with technical staff and Lab managers to plan and develop video productions from script to screen for APL’s internal and external clients. This includes leading all aspects of concept creation, storyboarding, script writing, location scouting, graphics and animation, implementing/animating branding elements, and editing.  In addition, you will:

 

  • Passionately serve our clients, delivering the best final product by serving as project manager and educating them about the video production process, principals, and the latest industry trends.
  • Create visuals and graphics as needed to support highquality end products.
  • Collaborate with other producers, editors, and communications professionals, display designers, sound engineers and others to create engaging productions.

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have a B.A., B.S or B.F.A. in film production or equivalent experience, with 5+ years experience.
  • Possess an exceptional reel of video projects demonstrating creativity and a deep understanding of film production principles, standards, methodologies, in addition to motion graphics experience creating custom broadcast packages and implementing existing templates.
  • Have experience effectively synthesizing creative direction, proposing solutions, and communicating your decisions to partners and team members.
  • Have solid written and verbal communications skills and the capacity to present a strong rationale for production decisions, receive constructive feedback, and push your film product to the next level.
  • Are a seasoned user of Adobe Premier Pro, Photoshop, and After Effects.
  • Exercise integrity, flexibility, and exceptional judgement at all times.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have strong storytelling expertise with experience seeing and implementing a visual story
  • Have experience in graphic design, motion graphics, and compositing tools.
  • Have experience working with technical subject matter experts from academia and the government.
